Our most favorite, year-round Imperial IPA. Brewed with malted wheat & flaked oats, hopped in the kettle with Mosaic, Belma & Chinook, fermented with English ale yeast, double dry hopped with Citra & Mosaic.
There was a time when it was believed that the ability to artificially create a human life was possible. For Medieval alchemists it was one of the most sought after discoveries of their time and both Christian and Islamic alchemists tried to harness the ability to create life unnaturally.
It was believed that even before a child was born they were simply a smaller version of a person. This belief solved the mysteries of the era related to conception without disturbing religious dogmas. Christian leaders saw the Homunculus as a representation of spiritual regeneration.
While no Homunculus is ever believed to have been created many claimed to have succeeded. One in particular claimed that he had created ten and all had the ability to see into the future. The idea of the Homunculus may have also been central to Mary Shelley’s famous novel Frankenstein.
Beer is of course made of living organisms and a lot of science goes into creating it, almost as much as went into trying to create a Homunculus. Just like the alchemists of old our brewers, we are constantly experimenting in our laboratory and we can tell you that our creation is no myth. We have succeeded!
